.The kid looks like he can play. I admit. But, is his father teaching him what is necessary for him to become successful in life, aside from sports? We got a sneak peek at this when the interviewer asked him, “Why is it important to go to college” ( something like that) and the young boy didn’t have a clue… hmmm… What is his father teaching him? Is he telling him the basketball is his key to success, or that it’s really hard work and dedication to WHATEVER it is you do? Whether he’s doing this or not, I think it’s important to let the 8 year old know, especially at the age he is, that basketball is a tool, but not the necessary determining factor to going to College or the NBA. Of course, if his dream is to make it to the NBA, then support him, but I think guiding him with the notion that it is the only way to become “Rich or Successful” is damaging to his psychological processing. I mean, the kid is only 8, he can still be playing competitively, but not with the thought in the back of his head that basketball is the only way to a good life. But all in all, I wish the young man success, because the kid’s got game.
